About Us:

The Dunlop Environment Volunteers, represents a group of 12 currently active members concerned with water quality and biodiversity management in the vicinity of the suburb of Dunlop. This area encompasses the Ginninderra Creek corridor and tributaries from the edge of Macgregor to the confluence of Ginninderra Creek and Gooromon Ponds Creek. It also includes surrounding stormwater tributaries, and two stormwater settlement ponds - Jarramlee Pond and Fassifern Pond.
The Group’s revegetation work focuses on four main locations in the vicinity of Jarramlee Park Estate:
- the westerly-facing hillslope towards Ginninderra creek from the end of Cashion Court;

- the public space between the walkway and Jarramlee Pond, adjacent to Cashion Court;
- surrounding the GPT (gross pollutant trap) between Cashion Court and Pomeroy St; and
- the bottom of the dam wall at Fassifern Pond, and the grassed area adjacent to Fassifern Pond near the gate to Hugh McKay Crescent.
extensive bird life in the Jarramlee Park region. To achieve this, the group also focuses on maintaining cleanliness in the area. A number of significant collaborations with other Groups including revegetation works with the Giralang Wetlands Care group along Ginninderra Creek in 2001, and more recent work with the Macgregor Landcare Group.The second half of 2003 to late 2005 saw much work on weeding and replanting in the four key sites. Removal or arranging removal of rubbish and dumped cars in the area has been ongoing since 2000. There were also consistent replanting and maintenance of vegetation in the area, with help from students and visitors on some occasions.

The group collaborated with ACT Dog Control on the installation of pond signage at both ponds, which depict some local bird and frog species. A submission was made and the two ponds were gazetted to their current names, previously Dunlop Settlement Ponds 1 and 2. The group also negotiated with Urban Parks and Places for a park bench, installed adjacent to Jarramlee Pond, with another bench soon to be installed at Fassifern Pond.
