Coordinate Converters for Frogwatch Sites

All of the unique monitoring sites in the Frogwatch Census can be located on a map using Eastings and Northings.  Sometimes, you may need to convert these numbers into latitude and longitude, or vice versa.  Here are a couple of online coordinates converters that you can use to make these calculations.

Enter your latitudes and longitudes as either degrees, minutes and seconds into the cells on the top left, and click "Convert DMS".  Your Eastings and Northings will appear at the bottom of the page.



DON'T use this online converter to convert Eastings and Northings back to latitude and longitude.  It doesn't work.  Use this one instead:

UTM - Lat/Long Applet
You will need to enter your Eastings and Northings into the green shaded box, as well as Canberra's zone number, which is 55.  Remember to check the box for the Southern Hemisphere, and then click "Convert UTM to Lat/Long".
